Got under the bar today for the first time in over a month! Excited to be hitting the platform in May!

William Raines, DC 11.02.2021

Was very excited to have had a friend from my days at @PLNU, Lizzy Moyer, with us at the office recently! Lizzy also studied kinesiology at PLNU, she’s a yoga instructor, soccer enthusiast, and she’s considering chiropractic or physical therapy school. ... Lizzy spent an afternoon shift with us to see how what sets our chiropractic office apart from the pack! Thanks for spending time with us, Lizzy!

BFR follows this basic principle and allows you to create artificial instances of hypoxia by restricting the flow of blood to a part of the body and perform lower intensity exercises with high repetition that results in the same effects as high intensity exercise. Full blog post in my bio! ... #WriterWednesday

Another one of my 2021 resolutions is more of a continuation, rather than something new. Since graduating from chiropractic college 2 years ago, I’ve made it a goal of mine to stay clinically sharp by working towards a new certification/course each month.... @WorldRugby has modules for medical staff, coaches, and strength specialists to better grow the sport. Depending on your background and level of education, these courses can typically be completed within a day! Being a rugby medical professional, a coach at several levels, and a former athlete, I’ve racked up 14 of theses modules!

Because last week’s #tbt from @TikTok was so popular, here’s another video that a lot of TikTok viewers liked! Control through trunk rotation is becoming more and more difficult for the general population due to our largely 1 dimensional movement patterns associated with desk jobs, driving a car, etc. ... When movement becomes difficult, external/internal cues are some of the easiest concepts to implement. Leave some love if you liked this one!

Singles are fun! On top of my bigger SBD goals for 2021, the biggest challenge for me will be building a big bench press. ... The bench press has always been an uncomfortable movement for me and I’ve neglected it for years due to fear avoidance. Just like in every aspect of growth - there’s benefit from being uncomfortable. Also, I just wanna lift like @gorillapit

Another resolution of mine this year is to sit for the @nscaofficial Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist exam . This certification is one of the highest credentials one can achieve in strength and conditioning, and it has been in the back of my mind for the last 4 years. ... I plan on reading 10 pages of this book per day until completion before spending a 2-4 week intensive prep period . If you know a CSCS, send them my way! Any advice will be graciously welcomed .

Talk about a case of the Mondays Popped a flat tire on the way to the office, had to cancel all of my morning appointments, had to put on a spare tire for the first time since high school, and the rain decided to pour just as I was jacking my car up (it’s been a REAL dry winter). ... Here’s to a better rest of the week

So what do you do if you belong to a commercial gym and you want to change? Where do you go? What are your options? There are plenty of independently owned gyms and private training facilities who are ran by real people, founded on hard work and perseverance, and are dedicated to serving the community. Check out my shortlist of choice independently owned gyms across San Diego County! ... Full read in bio

I approach clinical practice kind of like how I approach coaching - assessing, planning, intervening, building, and testing. Another consistent theme is the idea of independence. From a coaching perspective, it looks like having a clear understanding of their activity and their physical limitations. From a clinical perspective, it’s exactly the same. ... Testing might be an orthopedic re-examination, but it might be stepping on a platform and bench pressing 462lbs. My role is just to put individuals in the best position to test themselves.
