Preserve Black Doll making as an art form by attending the Doll Making workshop Black Doll Making is an act of historic preservation. With each generation of new doll makers, comes an archive of important art making. Let’s start with one of the simplest, yet most fulfilling methods this Saturday, the Wrap Dolls. These are traditionally made with found items, like twine or old clothes and rags, wrapped around a gourd. ... You can learn this technique in only two days at our next doll making workshop Saturday, January 16 at 2 pm PST with Nawili Gray. Below the image is Nawili’s list of items to have on hand, found in your home. Feel free to wing some of the materials if you don’t have them all. Cotton.. blends) Rubber bands Paper clips /pipe cleaners/ various flexible wires Scissors Glue sticks / hot glue sticks/ other fabric adhesives Threads/ ribbons / embroidery threads/ yarn/ hemp threads Cotton balls Tape measure / rulers Assorted papers (eg.. tissue paper,newspaper.. paper bags,scrapbook paper ,magazine pages) Synthetic hair, old wigs washed and dried. Shredded paper.. cassette tapes Markers .. acrylic paints / brushes Beads/ rhinestones/ buttons Assorted trims Needle threads Silk or artificial flowers
