Clay goes through so many transformations before you achieve the final product. What was once a sticky ball of mud, has been shaped and baked into a blank canvas! I've been getting to the end of my current underglazes, which is awesome because then I get to buy new colors!! These colors came from a variety pack and there a little too basic for my taste

First time trying the bubble technique and 2nd time with reels! I'd have to say it came out way better than my first one! It gives me a lot more confidence to make videos now I know it's actually fairly easy! #ceramics #sacramentoartist #pottery #handmade #wheelthrownpottery #bubbleglaze

I thought I introduced myself to my followers who don't know me irl! My name is Emily Rowe and I make ceramics out of my kitchen in Sacramento, CA. I just turned 25 and I first started my ceramic journey my Junior year in high school. I mainly did hand-built sculpture until I took my first wheel thrown course at my local community college. Learning wheel throwing is so frustrating, i kept practicing and practicing until I was able to actually make something exactly how I saw... it in my mind. Here we are now almost 4 years later, making a business out of something that brings me joy, frustration, ambition, and makes me apart of a very special ceramics community. This year I made the step to work out of a home studio which is a very different process for me than working out of a commual studio. Before I had access to several kilns & gorgeous homemade glazes . Now I drive 10 miles to fire bisque, again to pick up, 10 miles to glaze fire, and once more to pick up the final piece! It's time consuming but I've made a decent schedule out of it, always doing a pick up and a drop off at the same time. I'll be able to finally buy my kiln once I secure a better work space, until then, please enjoy all the hoops I jump through to make my heart glow & bring unique handmade ceramics to shine on your table.
