Bright-eyed and bushy-tailed? Sometimes ... I am definitely not a morning person. Or a night person, haha! I'm more of a middle-of-the-day person. But I've learned that in order to actually be awake, getting some sunlight and movement in first thing in the day gives my body the energy it needs to connect with my brain and spirit during the day. So, I get up and get my eyes and skin exposed to the sun and get my body moving each morning. Woot! *DID YOU KNOW?* ... That getting sunlight in your eyes first thing in the morning can be so powerful that it can: - Reset your circadian rhythm - Reduce depression - Reduce inflammation - Increase your energy - Increase in seratonin levels - Increase vitamin D levels - Weight loss - Help with insomnia (yep morning light helps with night time sleep) Have a wonderful day! #sleep #energybooster #energyboost #healthyliving #healyourbody #fatigue #adrenalfatigue #chronicfatigue #fibromyalgia #wholeness #wholelifefreedom #healthyandwhole

Boy, this year, this season, has been a season of taking risks. My life sort of feels this way sometimes haha! But risks are ALWAYS a part of GROWTH. When we want health, we have to take the risk of trying out new eating patterns, new thought patterns, and risking what our friends might think. BUT we also GAIN life, strength, energy. I am SO grateful for all the risks I've taken! And now all the energy, strength, and joy I get to run through life with on a daily basis. ... How would your life be different if you took some risks toward the dreams inside your heart? #wholeness #freedom #healthyliving #takerisks #youareworthit #livefree #wholelifefreedom

There are many risk factors that can lead to an increase in thoughts about taking one's life. It's important to recognize these in yourself or a loved one, expe...rts say, because many people do not talk about their thoughts of suicide in advance. Does the person have a mood, anxiety, alcohol or other substance use disorder, a major physical illness or a history of trauma, abuse or suicide in the family? The loss of a relationship may also trigger suicidal behavior, especially for anyone with a sense of isolation or lack of social support. A person who holds a religious or cultural belief that suicide is a noble resolution of a personal dilemma is at higher risk, according to Suicide Prevention Lifeline, as can feeling that asking for help carries a stigma. Any previous suicide attempt is the single most important risk factor, according to the WHO, but people can also react to local clusters of suicide or deaths of famous celebrities reported in the media -- deaths by suicide rose by 10% after comedian Robin Williams ended his life in 2014. Has there been a recent economic blow? That is another risk factor, and a reality facing millions who are out of work right now due to Covid-19-related job loss, social isolation or quarantine. And research shows that easy access to firearms is also a key risk factor. Warning Signs Again, not everyone will give their friends and loved ones verbal hints about their suicidal thoughts. That's why it's important to recognize warning signs in actions as well as words. Be wary if your loved one: - Begins to search online for ways to kill themselves, such as buying a gun or obtaining medical prescriptions - Increases their use of alcohol or drugs - Sleeps too much or too little - Starts to behave recklessly, such as driving while intoxicated or without a seat belt - Appears agitated, expresses rage or talks about seeking revenge - Has extreme mood swings, from euphoria to the depths of depression - Appears to feel hopeless or talks about feeling trapped or having no reason to live - Appears to be in unbearable psychological pain or talks about being a burden to friends or family - Withdraws or isolates from others Many of these signs may be tough to recognize during the pandemic as families and friends are more isolated and alone. Be sure to call and check on loved ones and listen carefully to their concerns and how they are expressing themselves. If you are having suicidal thoughts: If you live in the US and are having suicidal thoughts, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 800-273-8255 for free and confidential support. It's open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. For crisis support in Spanish, call 888-628-9454. Been a little while since I've posted anything ... so today, here's my favorite saying: "let's just laugh at that" We don't just have to laugh when things are funny. It's actualy a powerful "tool" to decrease cortisol, to increase dopamine & seratonin, and to heal our bodies! Laughter is also my favorite way of pushing back any anxiety, fear, tiredness, or daily life struggles. Even starting with a "fake" laugh can initiate happy chemicals in the body, bringing in some joy a...nd peace. Amazing the way God has made us to live in joy! #joy #laughter #laughterheals #wholeness #wholelifefreedom

I'm in it for the LONG HAUL. Are you? When I was younger, I actually never thought very far ahead. I lived in the moment. I didn't think about "taking care of myself" at all. And today, I'm reading and studying books on longevity. ... Not because I want to live long (but why not?), but because the findings of longevity studies are finding that it's the SAME things that cause us to live long and prosper ALSO fight disease, build our immunity, reduce body weight, AND give us energy. Here are some of the findings of longevity experts that we can easily add to our lives: 1. Move Naturally (On a regular basis) 2. Have Purpose (Why you wake up in the morning) 3. Down Shift (Learning to recover from stress) 4. 80% Rule (Fueling up to 80% full) 5. Plant Slant (Having a diet rich in plant foods) 6. Having a Sense of Belonging (Community, loved ones) 7. Gut health (Taking good care of our microbiome) 8. Cold exposure (Cold showers, weather, etc) 9. Occasional Fasting 10. Joy and laughter (Positive connections) I love that health really is a LIFESTYLE. It's not one simple answer. One pill. One diet. It's an overall approach to life that encompasses the WHOLE person. #wholeness #wholelifefreedom #livelong #strengthandenergy #healthyliving #freedom #longevity

When you think of "hard work" what do you think of? Do you think of white-knuckling it, putting your head down, and "just doing it"? Or do you picture simplicity? ... What if hard work can be restful? I believe that it can be. It doesn't have to be painful. Taking care of ourselves can be "hard work" or it can be good work, full of love and rest because we love ourselves and are loved by others and by God. YOU are worth it! It is worth it! What's one step you can take today toward loving, caring for, and helping yourself step into your healthiest self? #loveyourself #youareloved #wholeness #mindfulness #thriving #simplicity #wholelifefreedom #itsthesmallthings
