This is a wonderful story about the wisdom of children, try not to cry

Activity of the week: baking. Here is one of our family favorites, Nanaimo Bars. Regardless of dietary restrictions, having kids help preparing food is a great way to increase their independence and slip in some math while turning out something yummy.

Adventure Playground is the best! We just discovered this treasure that has been around over 35 years. If kids could design a playground, I think this would be it. It's a drive, but worth it!

Winter (break) is coming. Here's a great place to go when the kids are bouncing off the walls. It's the Rotary Playgarden on Coleman Avenue in San Jose, filled with old fashioned play equipment!

This is an interesting reminder that things change slowly, but they do get better.

Jillian M. November 26, 2017 I reached out to Whole Kids Therapy when I had a very wiggly class! I was looking for strategies and information about how to better engage my students because many of them had sensory challenges. Moira Sullivan taught my class exercises and techniques to improve their sensory processing skills. We built a sensory break into our school day each morning where we would go through a different set of exercises. Furthermore, Moira recommended some different products such as a wiggle seat to provide calming input that helps children focus. It was wonderful working with Moira, she was a great listener and she had many ideas and tools that made my school year more successful.

Confessions of a Domestic Failure I just learned about this book, it's wonderful! It reminds us all that parents are human and need support and care, just like the little humans they're raising.

Celebrate Strengths! There is a tendency most of us have to look at areas where children (and adults) struggle and want to fix them. While I completely understand this view, and believe that there is value to increasing skill, it's equally important to celebrate our strengths. A child who has difficulty with gross motor coordination may be adept at playing a musical instrument. Someone who thinks in pictures may go on to design buildings. For those who think in patterns, e...ngineering may in their future. We all have strengths, let's remember to celebrate them.
