***Update**** As of 9:30 AM, all current evacuations remain in place. They are MANDATORY in Hollydale and Olinda Village, VOLUNTARY in Brea Hills and Olinda Ran...ch. There are no other evacuations at this time. Updated information will be sent out as conditions change. According to OCFA, the #BlueRidgeFire is approximately 8,000 acres and 0% containment. When extreme weather threatens your home, and forces an evacuation it's critical to have a plan. Here are a few to-do's that should be on your checklist.

****ATTENTION*** The City of Brea is issuing voluntary evacuations in Carbon Canyon, east of Brea Hills to the County line. This is a safety precaution due to t...he Blue Ridge Fire currently burning in Yorba Linda, to the south of Brea. In addition, Carbon Canyon Road has been closed at the County line to ease traffic. Please head west through Brea when evacuating the canyon. As evacuating, gather your belongings and head to a family or friends home, or a hotel. The Brea Community Center, 695 Madison Way, is also available as an evacuation center. Please note, COVID precautions will be in place at the community center. 2020 has been the largest wildfire season recorded in California history according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. Though it may be hard to believe, we’re only halfway through the traditional fire season which runs from July to November, when hot and dry winds are most frequent. A few simple basic steps to prepare are the following: Create a defensible space around the home- clear away shrubs, trees and dead vegetation; remove flammable items within 5 feet of the house Clean roofs and gutters of any debris Fill seams and gaps and sand off peeling paint or splintered material that can catch flying embers Taking steps to prepare in advance for wildfires can save both property and lives.
