West Valley students group activity to see which team could build up the highest as they work together. Great teamwork!

West Valley Christian School 31.10.2020

Yesterday students were reminded of our job as Christians to build up. They participated in a group activity to show how they work together to build up a tower of books. I’ll share the video so you can see what happened.

Today’s focus was based on Luke 11:14-23. After casting out demons and being accused about his purpose, Jesus reminded the people that His purpose on earth was to gather and build. Jesus told the people that His power came from God, and that each person must choose if they are for or against Jesus. As believers there is only one choice: you either gather people to grow closer to God or scatter people further from God. Pastor Tello encouraged students to prove their belief. He shared that you show you gather when build people up. Pastor Tello challenged students to ask themselves whose team they are on and what do their actions show.

For day two of prayer week, we discussed what component is necessary to be a good friend. Friends talk and spend time together, just like Jesus did with God. In Luke 11:9-13, Jesus reminded us that if we ask, we will receive. Pastor Tello asked the students, does God give us things we want that may not be good for us? Our 6-8th grade class knew the answer from their recent trip to Hume Lake: Yes, Israel asked for an earthly king and was given Saul. Pastor Tello shared this because he wanted to remind the students that in order to know if what happens in our lives is God will, it must be according to His word from the Bible. So when we ask for things as we pray, we should pray if it’s Your will God, that way we know if what we desire is also what God desires for us.

Yesterday we started our Spring Week of Prayer. The theme is taken from Luke 11 with an emphasis on how Jesus teaches us to develop a relationship with God. Pastor Tello shared Luke 11:1-8 and discussed the source of Jesus strength: prayer. While on earth, Jesus had a strong connection with God because He prayed. In the parable of Luke 11, a man persisted in asking for help from his friend even though it was late at night, because he was comfortable enough to know his friend would help him. God reminds us that He is our friend that we can call on anytime for anything, because God desires to be close to us. God wants us to know we can always come to Him and we don’t ever have to stop asking God for what we need. Amen to that!

Yesterday our youth participated in our first 1-2-3 Serve event. We shared bags decorated by our K-2 class which had scriptures written out by our 6-8 class. The bags were filled with healthy snacks packed by our 3-5 class. Students handed out bags to members of the community at John D. Morgan Park in Campbell. They offered prayers as they distributed bags. Praise God for this opportunity to serve those in need.

This week we started out week of prayer led by Pastor Ivor Myers at our school. Pastor Myers did a dynamic job explaining the plan of salvation through 10 parables throughout the week. On Monday we reviewed the parable of the marriage feast written in Matthew 22:1-14. This parable is the foundation upon which the plan of salvation rests. Pastor Myers shared how the marriage mentioned in the parable was set in the garden of Eden, where Adam and Eve first sinned. Adam and Eve represent the first of the ten parables: the prodigal son-it represents how they chose to leave God, our father for the desires of their own hearts (Luke 15:11-32)
