Look for the Santa Monica Shines COVID-19 Assurance program seals in the storefronts ...of Santa Monica businesses. These businesses have gone above and beyond to ensure you feel safe and comfortable. Businesses who are COVID-19 Assured have done the following: Demonstrated that they are Following cleaning protocols designated by the Center for Disease Control, California Department of Public Health and Los Angeles County Department of Public Health. Had their staff complete the Santa Monica Shines online training on COVID-19 awareness and customer service. Conducted an on-site or virtual walk-through with a member of Sustainable Works. Agreed to receive protocol updates and new content through micro-courses and micro-lessons to promote on-going awareness of the evolving pandemic and keep safety top-of-mind."

March 20, 2020 UPDATE Dear WMC Parents, As most of you probably know by now, Governor Gavin Newsom has issued a "STAY AT HOME" order to protect the health and well-being of all Californians and to establish consistency across the state in order to slow the speed of COVID-19.... https://www.gov.ca.gov//governor-gavin-newsom-issues-stay/ The Westside Music Conservatory closed last night, Thursday 3/19/2020 at 8:00pm, and will remain closed until the "STAY AT HOME" order has been lifted. We are shifting to virtual lessons for all of our students and sincerely THANK YOU for supporting our teachers and the Westside Music Conservatory during this challenging time. Our teachers are using FaceTime, Zoom, Skype, and GoToMeeting. We encourage you to try an online lesson before cancelling lessons. Many of our teachers are performers and have lost all of their performance (gig) income. We would like to do everything that we can to ensure that they do not also lose their teaching income. We will work around your schedule; all of our teachers are flexible and can accommodate most schedule changes and requests. If you have a tablet, smart phone, or a laptop with a webcam, all we need to do is to send you an invitation to connect. Best regards, Deborah & Leilani

Dear WMC Parents, During these challenging and uncertain times, please know that the Westside Music Conservatory is committed to the health of all of our students, teachers, and staff. We continue to follow all CDC, Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, and City of Santa Monica protocols with respect COVID-19. We are offering virtual lessons for students who would prefer to stay home via FaceTime, Skype, Zoom, and/or GoToMeeting. We are still, as of this morning, of...fering 1:1 in-person lessons. Our studios are large enough that we can follow the recommended 6-foot social distancing guideline between each teacher and student during the lesson. All students, parents, and teachers are required to wash their hands with soap before each lesson, and piano keys are being wiped down with Lysol/Clorox/isopropyl alcohol after each lesson. Door knobs/levers, tables, chairs, water dispensers, etc. are being disinfected every 30 minutes. We are following the news carefully, especially from SMMUSD and LAUSD, and we are making decisions daily based on updated information. We have cancelled all group classes and have re-configured our front waiting area to also follow the 6-foot social distancing guideline. We have also set up chairs outside. Please respect the health and wellness of others. If you or your child is ill, please e-mail or call the Westside Music Conservatory immediately to reschedule that day’s lesson. You and your child must be fever-free, cold-free, flu-free, vomit-free, and diarrhea-free for 72 hours before attending a lesson. If your child does come to a lesson and is obviously ill, (s)he will be sent home immediately, and you will be charged for the lesson.
