A little mid and lower face refresher This patient returned to the clinic today for his follow up appointment. Four weeks ago, we added multiple syringes of Voluma to replenish the mid and lower face while also treating the recessed chin and voila! Love a good touch up _ Touching up some lips that we treated initially about 1.5yrs ago. Here we used 0.55cc syringe if Volbella to give them a little boost . _ Injector pro tips from @hannah_hunt_pa : ... We have to be careful with M shaped lips. Putting the product in the wrong place could make them look lumpy and misshapen, or cause them to roll or even the filler to migrate. When treating these lips, I focused on the area of deficiency (the part where the lip gets narrow) and giving the bottom lip a little plump. I used a dual technique where I went down from the Vermilion border and put in small boluses into the skinny area, and then went in laterally, just superior to the wet dry border (careful there!) to smooth the surface. We look like BABIES....no wonder the hospital patients would demand to know how old I was and ask could I please go get the doctor Being a PA has been one of the most fulfilling things I have ever done with my life. I started doing urgent care right after I graduated (in fact, I interviewed @hollywoodwalkinclinic ...before I even took my boards!) and fell in LOVE. I loved the excitement and variation in my day. I loved solving the little (or, sometimes big) medical mysteries that walked through the door. And keep in mind- this is 2011 and @hollywoodwalkinclinic was one of the FIRST clean, cool and classy urgent cares around- before fancy urgent cares were even a thing! (It was also downstairs from a dispensary that was frequented by @snoopdog and raided by the feds every couple of months cuz, you know, 2011 One day an @allergan_medical_institute rep walked in and asked if I wanted to learn how to do injectables. At the time, it was basically Botox and Juvederm Ultra ...but that’s all it took. I was IN. For years, I did both urgent care and aesthetics. I even opened my own practice, @thewestsideclinic, as primarily an urgent care in 2015, still doing aesthetics on the side. I truly loved the medical diagnostics and patient care component of urgent care...but living a double life (that’s how it felt sometimes!) was becoming exhausting. In 2018 I decided to commit to purely aesthetics and I haven’t looked back. I can now focus 100% of my attention on my art. It’s funny, because I feel like so many aesthetic PAs have a similar background in either urgent care or ER and I’ve always wondered what the connection was. Do we love procedures? The instant gratification? The intensity? Whatever it is, I’m sold. I feel so lucky to have a career that I’m passionate about. That I truly love and feel good about.
