Did you know the local recycling facility shuts down 2 to 3 times a day because workers must remove plastic bags and other tanglers from the sorting belts? You can help. Don’t bag your recyclables and never put plastic bags and other tanglers in your recycling cart. #TipTuesday #GreenerWestSac #WestSacRecycles #Zerowaste #RecycleRight

West Sacramento residents! Do you have more leaves than you can fit in your organics cart? During leaf drop season (November 1st to January 31st) extra leaves may be placed next to your full organics cart in 30-gallon cans or in compostable bags (paper or ASTM D6400 rated) weighing no more than 50 pounds each. Call Waste Management at (866) 844-1508 to request an extra organics cart if needed (up to four at no additional cost). Whatever you do, do not place piles of leaves in front of your house on the streetthey will not be picked up and could potentially clog storm drains and cause flooding issues in your neighborhood!
