Westminster Bible Chapel 01.07.2021

Greetings! Reminder: There are two important special events happening tomorrow (12/21): 1. Christmas Across America... Children will hear the true story of Christmas, sing songs about Christmas, learn a Bible verse which goes along with the lesson, and enjoy several fun activities and games. Our chapel will be sponsoring this event twice in the same day. The first will be held at our chapel from 10:30am12:00noon and is geared for our Sunday School children; it will be led by WBC volunteers. The second will be held at the local apartments where we regularly do outreach and will be led by CEF. The second meeting will be from 1:00pm2:30pm. If you have any questions please contact Eric Armstrong. 2. WBC’s Annual Christmas Party Saturday, December 21st Begins @ 5:30pm. We invite you to join us at Dorothy Wilson’s house to celebrate the birth of our Savior. Please bring an appetizer and a small dessert. Our night of fellowship will include singing Christmas carols and a gift exchange (please bring a gift valued between $10 and $20). The gift should be gender neutral and wrapped or placed in a gift bag. A donation will also be collected and later distributed among the missionaries we support as a Christmas gift from our church. The first $600 raised will be matched. If you have questions, please contact Shawn Wicks. Merry Christmas! Shawn

Special Service: A Time to Give Thanks TODAY! On this day of worship, we will break bread at 9:30am (instead after service). After this, there will be a fellowship break (from 10:30-11:00am), and then we will gather together with our Spanish-speaking brothers and sisters in Christ for a time of thanksgiving. During this service, worshippers will be given an opportunity to publicly thank God for His goodness and kindness over this last year. Stories that would be appropria...te to share include a specific answer to prayer, how God has provided for your daily needs, how He has been a source of comfort through a time of trial or temptation, and so on. After our time of thanksgiving, there will be a potluck. ALL are invited to join. PLEASE make plans to stay and eat lunch with us. A thankful heart is all that is required! Hello Saints, I received an update from Tracy Chung yesterday (sorry it has taken so long to get it out): Elijah is at home (good news), but is still in a lot of pain (he is allergic to many pain killers) and is still recovering. Your prayers are appreciated. David and Tracy have sent/allowed Josiah and Hosanna to go out on various out-of-town school trips/events without their supervision for the first time (Tracy is at home taking care of Elijah and David is working). T...hey are asking prayers for them, too. And continue to pray for David and Tracy... through all of this, they are being stretched in their faith (in a good way). Your brother in Christ, Shawn

Hello Saints, Many of you have been asking me for updates about Elijah Chung. I have not heard from David and Tracy for about a week. However, in case you have not received it yet, I will include here the last update I received from Tracy: Wednesday 1/3 - From Tracy Chung... "We are on day 3 in the hospital now and [Elijah] is starting to be able to move his right side of his body, although there is much pain. He broke out in hives twice from some of the pain killers. They weren’t able to get it controlled with Benadryl and he had to just let it work itself out of his body. Last night from 10:30-3:30 he had uncontrollable itching... to the point where he was asking the nurse to strap his hands down to the bed because he started ripping off the bandages to scratch where the tube was connected to his body. She said she couldn’t do that and he asked, Can my mom do it? We tried all sorts of stuff and finally, he was able to fall asleep around 3:30 this morning. We have had tears from helplessness, tears from pain, tears from exhaustion, tears of gratefulness... it is sweet to be raw with each other and rely on the Lord as He continues to heal Elijah’s body. Please pray for Elijah to intentionally seek the Lord each step of the way, knowing it is better to have God and nothing, than to have everything without God. We are reading Case for Faith as a family and are having great discussions. Please pray that each of us will meet God in a life-changing manner. We are counting our blessings as we have had a lot of time to spend in God’s Word and are having opportunities to reflect on God’s plan in all of this. Please pray specifically that the enemy would not have the opportunity to distract us from these intentional moments together." Let us continue to call upon the Lord and to lift the Chung family up in prayer as often as they come to mind. Your brother in Christ, Shawn

From David and Tracy: [Elijah and Tracy were riding bikes yesterday when Elijah collided with a moving vehicle. The car was going about 45 mph. The blessing is that the car went through the intersection and Elijah hit the side of the car. He took out the side mirror and dented the car instead of the car hitting him and potentially dragging him down the street. He was out of it the first 10 mins, but then was able to whisper his name. Last night, they performed surgery on him...Continue reading

On Saturday, December 9th, Alan was involved in a work-related accident. Numerous tests were performed over the course of three days. Although the results wer...e distressful, I continued to trust the Lord as we prayed for a miraculous healing. Today, myself and my children have had to do the most difficult thing any family must do. I said goodbye to my soulmate and best friend. My children said goodbye to the best father in the world. Although we are overwhelmed by grief and loss, I am comforted in the knowledge that Alan is with Jesus and I will see him again in Glory. I can’t begin to thank you all enough for your prayers which have been offered up on behalf of Alan and our family. They have strengthened and sustained me through the darkest days of my life. Please continue to keep us in your prayers as we start this new chapter in our lives. Your love for Alan is profound and I want you to know how much he loved each one of you. While I wish I could talk to you all individually, I know you will understand that I just need time alone with my family. Thank you for allowing us our privacy. Thank you again for your love, support, and continued prayers. Love, Bobbi
