CalFire and the Western Shasta Resource Conservation District would like to thank all landowners who participated in the China Gulch Fuelbreak project. With your cooperation and participation, we were able to construct a continuous fuelbreak from the start of Canyon Road and 273 all the way to the intersection of Cloverdale Road and Clear Creek Road. That's over 10 miles long, and almost 300 acres of vegetation removed in order to protect our neighbors! We are currently finis...hing up this project by applying herbicide to those properties that agreed to allow us access, however the funding for this project runs out at the end of June. Unfortunately, due to circumstances out of our control, we are not able to reach everyone who gave us permission to spray on their property. We are hoping that now that the hazardous fuels have been removed, it will be easier for landowners to continue to maintain their land in order to keep this fuelbreak effective as long as possible.
