We may not be able to have a Western Days this year, but we can have a drive-thru trick-or-treat!

Today, the County of San Diego Public Health Officer Dr. Wilma Wooten announced the county has hit ten COVID-19 community outbreaks. Out of the concern for the health and safety of our community and residents, it is with a heavy heart that we announce the further postponement of The Valley Center Western Days Parade, Country Fair, VCHS Jag Auction, Car Show and Chili Cook-off. We will revisit our options at a later date.

Memorial Day weekend in Valley Center traditionally has gathered the community together. The street would be lined with chairs and and people on bikes would be ...crusing the street in anticipation of the parade. Hours later the smell of funnel cake, manure and beer would float in the air as the stands filled at the rodeo. Everyone would be dressed appropriately in hats and boots. Unfortunately those sights and smells will not happen this weekend. We will have to wait a few more months. Every year the flag in the picture is flown during Memorial Day/ Western Days at the fire station. This week that flag will still be flown as an appropriate tribute to Memorial Day as well as Western Days. In addition you may see some Firedighters wearing cowboy hats this week as we do every year for Western Days. Happy Memorial Day, see you in July at the parade.
