Please come and support our unhoused community members at 22nd and Wazze and support residents of this encampment as they demand real housing or places where they are allowed to survive.

She also wants PPB to get rid of its Special Emergency Response (SERT) and Rapid Response teams. The latter is a key component in PPB's response to protests this year.

repost Denver Homeless Out Loud Imagine you need a new roof so you gutters don't get clogged all the time. Then some folks come by and say hey we would like to clean your gutters... and you respond with I would really rather have my roof fixed so that when you clean the gutters it will mean something. Otherwise you all will just have to return to clean the gutters all the time and we will get nowhere. This is often what happens with services for the homeless. They are... often things that do not lead to solutions. Sure things may be better for a short time but since the real issue is not addressed the need never goes away. So if the person in the above story said no thanks for you gutter cleaning, I am going to look for someone to fix my roof and the gutter cleaner call them ungrateful. What do you call the gutter cleaners. I think the current term being used is KAREN. Local news coverage is unfortunately made from a KAREN point of view all too often. The problem with 2B is that it will lead to the equivalent of a lot of gutter washing without fixing any roofs so over time things will not get better they will worsen. Housing ends homelessness not a bunch of services that have to be repeated over and over and over us because there is no housing. Build the housing Denver #DoBetter. City council turned down a master lease amendment to the city budget last Monday. That would have ended homelessness for many quickly, but they turned it down 12-1. What kind of council would complain about too many visibly homeless folks and refuse to budget for an option that would end it. We call them KAREN. See more

repost Denver Homeless Out Loud One month ago today... The city has increased frequency and intensity of sweeps since. Wasting all that money, some of the folks at the camp near by the rally are now off of 6th and Sherman right next door to a news station that seems not to notice. What an opportunity for a story, what will they do when the police fence off the block and they can't get in and out of the news station.
