See how far they've come! These recruits graduate Friday. Take a look at their commissioning as new divisions 7 weeks ago! Division 355 and 356 are commissione...d by their ship’s officer. While everyone has been able to view the first division of recruits marching into the drill hall from the vantage point in the bleachers or via live stream duri...ng graduation, here's what the first division in line looks like as they wait outside the door into Midway Ceremonial Drill Hall for the ceremony held Sept. 13. Think you're excited and nervous sitting in the bleachers waiting for that door to open? Imagine what's going through their minds as they standing there anxiously listening to you cheering for the announcing of the state flags before the door opens knowing they're about to see you for the first time in eight to nine weeks. Imagine their pride the moment the door lifts as they see the entire crowd on their feet cheering, screaming, shouting, crying, laughing and frantically waving. If you have attended a ceremony, what was going through your mind the moment that door opened? If you are a former recruit, what was going through YOUR mind as you waited for that big, white door to open?

Did you know that ships like USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7) who were undergoing scheduled maintenance in Mayport, Fla., remain in-port ahead of Hurricane Dorian? So, ship’s crew and port services have increased mooring lines (ropes) to help stabilize the ship during anticipated high winds.
