I used to work at AIG, a big insurance company, and there’s no way anything like that would be possible. My view is that there are two businesses in insurance: there’s serving customers, and then there’s serving the capital market--and that’s a whole different world. Most insurance companies that you know of do both. And the struggle between what makes money and one side and what makes money on the other is one of the core conflicts in this business. "When I was growing up, I had to pay my own way through college, and also help out my mom. She was a single mom. Honestly, I didn’t really know how to make the best financial decisions, neither did she. I felt like there wasn’t much access to the right financial tools. Over the past decade working in finance, I never saw a good solution out there. So, my team of two other co-founders with similar backgrounds and I decided to start Snowball. We created an app that helps people make good financial moves and save money. Finance is not as scary as you think once you know how to make the right decisions. We started about a year ago, and now there are five of us on the team. I think since we are a smaller company, it's good to be a part of a larger community, like Werqwise." Last night's talk about workplace burnout was a huge success! Featured speakers, addressed the six common factors that lead to chronic stress at work, and how to combat them effectively. Turns out, a lot of folks were dealing with some stress (who isn't?) and found this talk incredibly helpful!
