Caltrans District 2 is planning their next phase of investment in Siskiyou County. They are seeking input to improve walkability and bikeability on state routes..., particularly when they pass through our towns. This survey invites you to add locations on state routes, where pedestrian/bicycle access should be improved. . https://survey.catplan.org/Home?sid=2 . Listing a few addresses ahead of time makes this survey easy to complete. Downtown Fort Jones, Callahan, Happy Camp, Weed, Dorris, Tulelake, Montague and Yreka are along state routes, and should provide input using this survey. The Caltrans Complete Street toolbox includes bike parking, bike lanes, sidewalks, high visibility crosswalks, crossing islands, shade for pedestrian access, roundabouts, signage, overpass/underpass for pedestrians and bicyclists, road diets to reduce lanes, increased 45 degree parking, vegetative street swales, landscaped areas, and LED lighting, to name a few.

4pm (16:00) Weed road conditions update: Weed Public Works continues to work to clear snow. Weed Police Department officers are still responding to numerous v...ehicles stuck on thick packed ice, or trying to drive over 3-4 foot snow berms. This causes delays as officers have to direct traffic or close the roadway. Although we have seen brief periods of sunshine and have intermittent spots of wet pavement around the city, we anticipate the wet pavement turning to ice after sundown. Current weather forecast is for further snow showers throughout the night. Please watch your speeds and drive carefully. See more
