Most know Martin Luther King Jr’s famous, I have a Dream speech. But, beyond the dream, Dr. King had some thoughts about how to approach everyday work and community. Streetsweeper is a Briefcase Originals film inspired by Dr. King’s, The Three Dimensions of a Complete Life speech delivered at New Covenant Baptist Church in 1967.

OPEN INVITE! Come join us this Wednesday, 6-7:30p at the studio as we hear four current and former foster youth share their stories in a series called The Real Word. When we started the studio our vision was it be a place where we can rally together and support others in our community. @voices_for_children and their program does this for the most vulnerable in our city. We’re excited to rally around these youth and learn through their stories. We got drinks and snacks covered too. DM if you’re interested!

Some days we’re running productions and others we’re helping friends with theirs. We did a 1 day set build and pre-light in our studio for our buddy @_francois so that he’s able to come in and almost immediately start filming on shoot day.

A few frames from a mini doc we recently shot with the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation. Through Cathy and McKennas story we learned how horrible Crohn’s disease is (there is no cure). We also saw firsthand how their story is inspiring other patients and caretakers. Here’s to a cure! Watch here: https://www.wearebriefcase.com/crohns-colitis-foundation-1

Adding some film history to our space today! The 10K light in the first photo was picked up decades ago from the big sound stages at 20th Century Fox (we’re telling people it was used on Home Alone and Cleopatra, ). We’re going to retrofit the little guys with LED’s and use them as desk lights. #molerichardson #10k #hollywood @ Mission Hills San Diego

Continuing our Streetsweeper series, we had a nice chat with our good friend Brandon Steppe (@bsteppe) of @davidsharpfound. Brandon is an inspiration to us and a huge asset to the youth and community in San Diego. He’s also a way better golfer than he claims to be. Interview dropping next week! #framegrab #sandiego #filmmaker #streetsweepers #briefcasestudios

16 different interviewees, 1 shared purpose: to advocate for children’s needs in the complex foster care system. We recently partnered with @voices_for_children to create a couple pieces that explore the impact CASA volunteers make in the lives of many children, oftentimes the victims of neglect and abuse, in our community. We learned that the impact goes both ways. We’re looking forward to sharing at their annual gala this Saturday. Link soon!
