Member Elaine Triolo just posted on Nextdoor, as follows: Stop stealing my plumerias from [plot 72 in] the garden! Somebody keeps stealing from the garden. This is the second time someone has stolen a whole plumeria tree from my garden plot. Somebody is going to the garden and stealing from us avid gardeners. Please help to find the thief and put this to an end. If you notice your neighbors with small plumerias all of a sudden, please report them here. I would like my plants back.
More summer squash on the sharing table last night. I'll add several avocados to the table this afternoon from plot 80. I understand the tree there is now out of avocados.
More summer squash is on the sharing table. In addition, plot 80 can't garden now, so anyone interested in avocados can find some on the tree just to the right of the entry to that plot.
Today was lime day on our sharing table:
Today was squash day on our sharing table:
Look at the beautiful arrangement of veggies on our sharing table today. Thanks very much to whoever provided them.
I learned something new in today's garden rules walk. As others have noticed, we do indeed have several open plots now. The reason for this turns out to be COVID-19, as WVA reportedly doesn't have a process yet for processing new members to sign needed waivers and be assigned plots.
I don't know what these are, but they were under the sharing table today if anyone is interested in having one or both:
WVA dredging of the water path around our community garden is now complete. (The corrugated metal circle with a tripod on top is the actual drain.) We will all be very thankful for this when the rains return next winter.
Good morning. As a reminder, the waiver we all signed to regain access to our community garden plots requires us to cover our mouth and nose when entering and leaving the garden until we are in our own plot. It also forbids us bringing anyone else into the garden with us. If we violate these requirements, we could lose our access again, as recent increases in local hospitalizations are already resulting in new restrictions on allowed activities. Being in the fresh air and sun and getting exercise is very protective against COVID-19, so please let's not do anything to lose that access for us all.
Donated my first Tromboncino Squash for 2020 to the sharing table yesterday. It has a very mild flavor, and can be added to anything from a casserole to brownies.
Our July newsletter just went out via Email. If you didn't get it, just message us with your name and email address, and we'll get you a copy. Also, I forget to add one photo. This is the Meyer Lemon a critter almost gnawed off two winters ago, back to its original size and with lemons to harvest this fall.
