Seed cylinders are a super easy and tidy solution to bird feeding, meaning fewer trips to fill the feeders! We love them, too, because birds stick around longer eating... and we get to watch them longer too!

This little gal sure loves her SuperSuet! (The male Downy is distinguished by the red patch on his head.) . Woodpeckers don’t sing songs, but they drum loudly against pieces of wood or metal to achieve the same effect. People sometimes think this drumming is part of the birds’ feeding habits, but it isn’t. In fact, feeding birds make surprisingly little noise even when they’re digging vigorously into wood. Who knew they were just "singing" a song?!

If you've never seen a Pine Siskin, this is your year. In the past month, the birds have invaded the U.S. in search of food, inundating backyard feeders across the country. Without question, it's one of the biggest irruption years in recorded history for the finches. Look for their brown and heavy striping with a flash of bright yellow on their wings and tails. They eat lots more than just niger seed! They'll also eat Bark Butter, seed cylinders and Stackables, black oil sunflower and sunflower chips. Stephen R.D. Thompson

You may see this fellow around... the Pine Grosbeak. If summer growing conditions in northern North America's boreal forests aren't ideal, groups of birds - including the Pine Grosbeak - will irrupt during the winter months in search of food like fruits, nuts, seeds and cones. Annual forecasts are created to predict if the "winter finches" will irrupts by analyzing the summer's growing conditions. The Winter Finch Forecast is one of the most eagerly anticipated events of the year, like Punxatawney Phil and his shadow.
