Each year, the UC Davis Health African American Faculty and Staff Association (UCDH AAFSA) in collaboration with the UC Davis and UC Davis Health communities collects vital funds to support students at preschools in Sacramento’s Oak Park neighborhood. Donations can be made via Venmo @UCDavisHealth-AAFSA or by scanning the QR code in this flyer. The 22nd annual Penny Drive held virtually this year due to COVID-19 will take place from Monday, Nov. 2 through Sunday, Nov.... 29, with contributions going to the Oak Park Preschool Head Start Program. Friends: We're still looking for 18-24 year old Sacramento City residents who either lost work in the culinary field or can't get practical experience right now in a culinary program. If you know of anyone who might qualify and would like to apply, refer them to Community Culinary Student . The work will be done at the Sam and Bonnie Pannell Community Center and in another area of Meadowview. We're also looking for a Youth Entrepreneurship Program Manager... to help develop and manage the students as they set up their own initiatives to bring food security to neighborhoods of need. Funding Opportunity! The Youth & Family Collective is partnering with the City of Sacramento, Government and Cities-RISE to continue #SacYouthWorks, a work-bas...ed learning program for youth and young adults ages 12 -24 , to address the impacts of COVID-19. The City has allocated $1.3 million through the (CARES) Act to connect youth and young adults to paid, service and work-based learning experiences this fall while contributing to the City of Sacramento’s COVID-19 relief efforts. In exchange for 40 hours of service, youth will earn a stipend of up to $500. Participating organizations will receive $500 per youth to cover the cost of administrative support and other expenses. Shared training resources will also be available. New youth-serving organizations, #SacYouthWorks Summer partners, and those with existing partnerships with high schools in the City of Sacramento are encouraged to apply. Nonprofits or organizations with a fiscal sponsor may apply. Organizations may apply to support a minimum of five and maximum of 30 youth (depending on the age group served).
