Charcoal Toothpaste? Charcoal works great as a poison absorbent, on wound infections or to nix intestinal gas. Now it's being promoted in toothpaste. How's that working out? Well multiple dental hygienists report patients coming in with swollen gums, dark along from charcoal dust imbedded just underneath the gum tissue. Using an ultrasonic pencil-like tip with water, they tell of sliding it along the gumline and black puffs of dust exploding as they gently work it out from ...under the tissue. Not good. Just for that reason alone, I would stick with regular toothpaste--that is white in color. *wink*
