Please help us welcome the newest member of the Waterloo Morada Fire District, Chief Eric Walder. Chief Walder is no stranger to the fire service. He is retiring from his current fire chief position for the South Placer Fire Protection District where he was appointed to lead the district in 2015 at the department he has worked for the last 30 years. Chief Walder started his career as a Volunteer Firefighter and promoted his way to the top spot. Chief Walder has completed the ...Executive Fire Officer Program at the National Fire Academy, has a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Safety Administration and is recognized as a leader in the state’s fire protection services. He is a California State Licensed Mobile Intensive Care Paramedic. He currently is the Office of Emergency Services Region 4 Coordinator, and is responsible to coordinate emergency responses to requests for mutual aid throughout the state from twelve counties. He also represents OES on the Firefighting Resources of California Organized for Potential Emergencies (FIRESCOPE) Operations Team, he is the 2nd Vice President of the Fire Districts Association of California (FDAC) and a board member of the Fire Agencies Insurance Risk Authority (FAIRA) and many, many local organizations. He is exactly the leader the fire district was looking for and we are excited to get him to join our family. His community involvement and his dedication to the men and women that work for him was the selling point for us. Clay Titus, Board of Directors President. Chief Walder will start with the district on March 15th and transition with the current fire chief, Steve Henry, who is retiring after a 40 year career in the fire service on March 25th, the last five as the Fire Chief of the Waterloo Morada Fire District. Chief Henry started his career as a Volunteer Firefighter as well, and has promoted up through the ranks at various departments including 20 years at the City of Clovis. Congratulations to Chief Henry on his retirement. Thank you for your service. See more

TAG/ SHARE WITH EVERY FIREFIGHTER THAT YOU KNOW Fire fighter occupational cancer is the leading cause of line-of-duty deaths in the fire service. In 2019, more than 75% of the names of fire fighters added to the IAFF Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial Wall of Honor in Colorado Springs, Colorado, were of members who died from occupational cancer. In partnership with the Firefighter Cancer Support Network (FCSN), the IAFF has designated January as Fire Fighter Cancer Awareness Month ...to provide fire fighters the necessary tools and guidance to develop life-saving protocols for cancer prevention and to support those with a cancer diagnosis within their departments. Bringing increased public awareness to occupational cancer in the fire service will help generate greater legislative support for states and provinces to establish presumptive disabilities for all cancers affecting fire fighters.
