Members of Rotary Club of Walnut Grove express their deepest condolence to Michael's family. We would like to share with our community that a memorial fund in Michael's name has been established to benefit Michael's wife Amber, children Sierra and Logan. Community Benefit Program At the SEC meeting held on Dec 9, 2020, one of the major topic is Community Benefit Program. Due to the fact the DCA recognizes the proposed Tunnel Project will inevitably impact the communities and the environment in which they are built. A Community Benefit Program would provide opportunities for the impacted communities to articulate ways that the DCA can address the project conflicting with local uses that would affect cultural, recreational, natural resources and agricultural value.

Three knowledgeable professionals talked to our club about Small Communities Flood Risk Reduction Program, a program partnered with DWR. We learned about FEMA Accredited Levee which is 100 years flood protection. Many legacy communities fall short of this level. Remedies are flood fighting roads to be built, community based insurance or raising the entire properties financed by grants. Due to unforeseen circumstances this weeks Covid Testing clinic in Walnut Grove has been moved to the Galt site. If you have registered for clinic on Thursday Dec 10 1-5pm you will be notified of your appointment in Galt. We hope to resume the RiverDelta site on Dec. 17.
