La Plaza is hosting a free summer camp for kids in grades 1st-5th. They have very limited spots available for campers to register, and we’d love for our community to join them for a month full of fun! Summer camp will take place from July 6-30 and will consist of music, dance, and art lessons along with outdoor sports activities, and a field trip to Veggielution farm on Fridays. Lunch and snacks provided at no cost. They are asking all interested parties to complete their sum...mer camp eligibility form no later than Thursday, June 24th. Their team will follow up to complete the registration process as they receive the eligibility forms. If you have any questions or want further clarification, contact Millie Del Carmen at [email protected] or contact them at 408-794-6251.

Milpitas, We have concluded another fiscal year together, and I couldn't be more proud of our partnership. There is no doubt it has been a very challenging year. We have walked beside you every second and have directly responded to over 2,000 community concerns. The date of March 13, 2020, will be with me forever. This is the date our lives changed, and we realized community means much more than living in the same zip code. This is the day we suited up literally from head t...o toe and decided that we would do anything to make sure your family was safe and had what they needed to rise above this pandemic. I have never felt so much pride to stand next to members of our community who were ready to give up their lives to make sure Milpitians had what they needed. #WeGotYouMilpitas became more than a hashtag. It became a grassroots movement. By the people, for the people, to save our people. We have kept our promise to you and have placed #PeopleOverPolitics. We have strengthened our relationships across this region to make sure Milpitas doesn't get left behind. We still have so much more work to do. We must work harder to keep politics out of the home of the people, city hall. As we move into this last year, we will do whatever we can to change the way closed session meetings work in Milpitas. Those meetings should not hold items that should be public discussions. We can't shut out the public, and it's time to change this system. I believe only litigation issues should be addressed in a closed session. Milpitas, please stay engaged and pay attention. We cannot allow history to repeat itself. There is no doubt that words like shared governance, budget savings, better structures are often used to shape perceptions. I am incredibly proud of Milpitas for its continued engagement and commitment to making sure the people are represented. Your engagement has moved our city forward, and I can't wait to see what we can do together next year. We will continue to rise and build a better community for all of us. We have learned we are stronger together! Thank you for standing with the people that I love more than life itself, Milpitians. To my family, friends, coworkers, and all of you, thank you for being part of our village. To my loved ones and community, thank you for carrying me during long workdays of service this year. Your kindness has shaped me in ways I can't even explain and I would do it all over again! Being part of the working class and representing you has been one of the greatest honors of my life. Please don't hesitate to contact us at (669)228-1623 if you need anything. It's time to build the Milpitas that is and will always be for the people. May God protect you and yours today and every day. With love and gratitude, Karina Dominguez Councilwoman, City of Milpitas

This is great news! I would like to thank our county representatives for listening to our concerns. We must vaccinate and prioritize our teachers and frontline workers. Our office will continue to write letters and advocate at all government levels to make sure we have the resources needed to move Milpitas forward! Today is Ash Wednesday, and I am excited to get my Ash's today. Today, I will join thousands of people who will begin lent. Lent is a time for reflection and repentance. May we use this season of Lent to purify our hearts, correct our faults and grow as one. I have been blessed to live in our city, a place full of diversity. We celebrate and join all celebrations of all religions because we are one community. I thank you for including and sharing your faith or any other spiri...tual belief with me. Thank you for having our office in your prayers. I can't wait for the day that we can be together again in person. I am a woman and mother of faith, and I believe we can do anything with love, understanding, unity, and forgiveness. May God bless Milpitas and our communities. Together, WE will rise above covid 19 and other challenges we may face. Stay Strong and Stay Safe, Milpitas. #wegotyoumilpitas
