During this campaign many of our citizens have asked: How do you know so much about how cities work? As an Environmental and Urban Planner I have had the opportunity to help hundreds of communities in California. In doing so I have developed first hand knowledge of how cities work and the problems facing them. From building consensus among diverse interest groups to helping cities adapt to climate change, developing cutting edge policies, and working on all sorts of great pro...Continue reading

How can we help Benicia get ready for a COVID winter. The Center for an Urban Future put out 30 ideas to help New York City policymakers help their city's restaurants, shops, and bars survive the coming cold winter months. While we have much milder winters compared to the East Coast, here are some of the great ideas featured in the report that I like for Benicia: -Use scaffolding materials to help restaurants quickly erect winter structures that trap in heat. ... -Plan winter markets, pop up retail shops, and outdoor food festivals. -Provide microgrants to help restaurants in town afford to buy heaters and put up winterized dining structures. -Create winterized structures for multiple restaurants on a block to share. -Incentivize landlords to temporarily "lend" vacant storefront spaces to adjacent businesses if they need to expand or allow for new pop up retail storefronts for new start ups. -Help more small businesses transition to e-commerce. What do you think the City can do to help our community thrive during our colder winter months?

Throughout this campaign our community has had great interest in what my positions are on topics and how I plan on changing Benicia. Change. that has been what the majority of people have said. That’s a very strong word. But when it comes down to it, our community wants new ideas, new solutions, and new priorities. In government you have two types of change, functional and policy. Functional changes are those that realign, reposition, adapt, and evolve the structure of your ...Continue reading

As a member of our Community Advisory Panel for the City, I wanted to personally thank my fellow CAP member and representative of the Good Neighbor Steering Committee, Marilyn Bardet, who helped lead our discussion on the GNSC forum. If you have any additional questions related to the CAP, the GNSC, or anything really, feel free to reach out. Trevor Macenski https://m.youtube.com/watch... Full Video https://m.youtube.com/watch

In a series of recent posts on various social media outlets, my competition’s social media team is spreading misleading and false information to our community. In their recent post, there were blatant erroneous accusations made about my role at Stantec and my involvement with Valero. In addition, there were statements made about a perceived conflict of interest with my role on the Planning Commission; and should I be elected, a future conflict with the City Council. In an ...Continue reading

I’ve openly said and will state here again that I don’t condone negative and influential political advertising no matter who it comes from. As we all have experienced, in 2018 and now recently, outside influence is real and that is why the City developed a Open Government Committee to help identify ways we can change locally. Out of the formation of that committee came our City’s Voluntary Political Practices Policy. Which all our current candidates signed. Unfortunately the ...amount of control we have at the local level is limited by federal campaign regulations. With the Citizens United case the U.S. Supreme Court has already ruled that limiting campaign contributions does burden free speech to an extent. So as a candidate I will continue to strive for better transparency and clean campaigning amongst all candidates. Also my Campaign has nothing to do with these ads and I have reached out to Steve Young and Jason Diavatis directly to let him know just that.
