Voice of Refugees 25.01.2021

A Surprising Opportunity! Since June 2020, Voice of Refugees began offering online tutoring services. Families were matched with volunteers (from all around Orange, Riverside, and LA counties!) for weekly sessions. We've been so encouraged by the positive results: in terms of both academic progress and the warm friendships developed! Many of the volunteers had wanted to help refugees before COVID-19 but couldn't due to time or transportation conflicts. To #comecloser, we aske...d 5 pairs of tutors and students to share a little more... Thank you Pastor Moses and our neighbors at The Bridge Community Church for this generous donation of diapers and baby items! This means so much to our new moms - who, being isolated at home in an unfamiliar culture, are some of the most invisible* members in the refugee community. Being able to bring baby items (as part of our weekly delivery of essential food) helps new moms feel remembered and supported. Thank you for making this possible! *others that we don't get to see... as much are our beloved seniors and those experiencing terminal illness. Please pray for God to pave a way for us to bring care and support to those who with great needs yet the least attention. The Lord watches over the foreigner and sustains the fatherless and the widow, but he frustrates the ways of the wicked. - Psalm 146:9 #ElRoi #newbornjoy #theleastofthese #communityoflove

#UnGala2020 #StabiizeIntegrateThrive #humantogether The third part of our 3-pronged approach is: Thrive. In our intake process, we regularly learn about advanced credentials and skills that men and women bring from their homeland - just needing more mentoring to adjust to a different work culture and system. In our daily interactions, we continually witness heartwarming kindness, grace, and resilience embodied in so many individuals - just needing space to find their footing ...and more opportunities to express their hearts. Hope guides our walk with every refugee family...for we know how much our communities will be blessed when stereotypes are broken and each family is welcomed and invited to share more of who they are.
