On March 6th, I'm very pleased to moderate the following panel: "BLACK WOMEN’S ACTIVISM IN BRAZIL AND BLM 9:15 a.m. 11:35 a.m. - McLaren Complex This panel will bring together three international and local activists and scholars - Anielle Franco (Human Rights Activist, Maré Community, Rio de Janeiro), Lúcia Xavier (coordinator of CRIOLA, Rio de Janeiro), and Professor Tianna Paschel (UC Berkeley) to discuss State violence and Black women’s organizing for justice in Brazil and their connections to US-based movements like Black Lives Matter. On March 7th, I'm also happy to moderate the lecture "#NotHim: Feminist Resistance to the Rise of the Far-Right in Brazil," by Rosana Pinheiro-Machado. All events are free and open to the public.
