A tale of two bridges. Folsom’s two most iconic bridges boldly stand above the American River. Their structures are timeless and have been a tourist favorite since their installment. If only they could talk and share their stories in person. #visitfolsom #bridgecity The historic Truss Bridge is a Folsom favorite on the Johnny Cash Trail. Engineered and built by the San Francisco Bridge Company of San Francisco in 1893. The bridge was dismantled and moved 300 miles away from F...olsom in 1930. On April 15, 2000, the bridge was brought home to Folsom and re-opened to pedestrian traffic. The Rainbow Bridge celebrated its centennial in 2019. In 1918, when the Rainbow Bridge was going up amid granite outcroppings, The Folsom Telegraph described the structure as rising apparently of solid rocks. The bridge used to be a part of the Lincoln Highway, the first coast-to-coast route in the USA. Since then, traffic has been rerouted and welcomes 25,000 vehicles daily.
