Well, let’s see what 2021 brings. The bar seems to be set pretty low this time around. How about basic needs being met for everyone? . We’re grateful to those who’ve kept us busy. We miss your smiling faces lined up inside the bakery, and look forward to when we can see them once again! . Bakery is closed today (1/1).... . We’ll be open Sat & Sun (1/2 & 1/3). Parm & Pepper on Saturday. @lucidroasters will be here on Sundays all month long. . After this weekend, we’re giving the oven a rest from Jan 5-7 (Tue-Thur) and will be back on Friday Jan 8. . 1/1 - closed 1/2 & 1/3 - open 1/4-1/7 - CLOSED 1/8- back to regular hours

We’ll be back Wednesday 16 Dec. 8:30-3. . All tests have returned negative. Whew. Hoping for a second negative test from just one more to make sure - viruses need time to incubate to reduce chances of a false-negative test. We’re not taking any chances. . Thank you for the digital support over the past few days. We hope to see your well-masked faces (noses and mouths covered) at our takeout window this week!

Out of an abundance of caution, Village Bread will be temporarily be closed Sunday 13 Dec - Tuesday 15 Dec. . One of our crew was directly exposed to someone who was diagnosed with COVID-19. This same person has tested negative, but we’re taking no chances. All Village Bread staff who may have been affected are required to show a negative test result (two well-timed negative tests in some cases) before coming back to the bakery. All precautions will be taken before reopening.... . The decision to prioritize our staff and community was simple, even considering the financial impact the bakery will suffer. We hope you understand and agree with our decision. . We will very likely power up the ovens again on Wednesday 16 Dec, provided we can bring back the minimum necessary staff at that point. We’re sold out for 12/23 & 12/24. There will not be anything available for walk-ups on Christmas-Eve so please save the trip. Nothing left in the back either! Pfeffernüsse is back. . We only make these sweet/savory cookies in December each year. They’re made with whole grain Spelt & hard white wheat, toasted walnuts, and a motley blend of spices (including black pepper, mustard seeds, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, & cardamom). . Like all of our cookies, these are also 100% whole grain.... . Want some? Probably best to call ahead (ideally a day prior) to make sure we bake some just for you. See more

I’ll do my best to make this not read like an obituary... because it’s not! . @tonyxmont worked his final wake-and-bake yesterday at Village Bread after nearly a 3-year tenure, and staff lunch will never be the same. Or the bakery’s daily music selections. Or the divide-and-shape antics and discussions. . Literally raised in the family pizzeria, Tony gained a lot of experience in food in New Jersey and Philadelphia, including opening & co-owning a cafe - all of this on top of... earning a degree from Temple University. His experience, dependability, curiosity, and dedication to food/social issues have left their mark on Village Bread and will certainly be an asset to his next project. . We wish Tony and his soon-to-be family of three the absolute best as they venture to Ventura County. . We’ll miss his eagerness to take on seemingly insurmountable bakery challenges with a holler! This post is way past-due. . If you’ve come up on a Saturday or Sunday over the past 3 years, you’ve probably been Breaducated by Aaron. Or maybe you’ve heard him play viola. Or electric bass. Or singing death metal. If you were lucky enough, you saw him literally decorated for the holidays. Or, if you have a kid currently distance-learning in Redlands Unified School District, perhaps you’ll see him on a video conference call? Maybe he’ll make an appearance at Village Bread d...uring the holidays? In any case, we know Aaron will be successful as he spends the rest of the school year completing his teaching credential in a less-than-ideal world. The resiliency that Aaron has shown at the bakery will no doubt serve him well in this task. We’re proud of Aaron and wish him all the best! Thank you for all of the ways you have helped us grow. .
