With Halloween fast approaching, here are some tips to safely celebrate #Halloween2020 during COVID-19 times. Alternative lower-risk activities include pumpkin carving and decorating, hosting virtual costume contests, creating scavenger hunts for candy with your kids, making fall recipes, and watching scary movies at home. We encourage you to be creative as you can be! When participating in trick-or-treating activities, please keep it as safe as possible, such as preparing goodie bags ahead of time and placing them on a distribution table, setting up one-way trick-or-treating, marking 6-foot distances to avoid crowded doorsteps, and trick-or-treating with people you live with. More tips available in our guidance here: bit.ly/solanosafehalloween

The State has announced that Solano County is now in tier 2 (substantial) risk level. Great job, Solano! Several businesses are allowed to reopen with modifications, effective immediately. We all have a collective role to play to slow the spread of COVID-19 in our community - wear your mask, wash your hands, and watch your distance - to protect yourselves and others, and to continue the progress of moving on to the next tier. For a full list of which businesses can reopen, ...as well as the industry safety protocols that businesses must follow to keep staff and community members safe, go to covid19.ca.gov/safer-economy More information on the tier-to-tier comparison can be found here: https://www.cdph.ca.gov/.../Dimmer-Framework-August_2020.pdf #TogetherWeCan

Humans aren’t the only ones who are affected by secondhand smoke. Pets who are exposed to secondhand smoke are at a greater risk for eye infections, allergies, and respiratory issues including lung cancer. #TobaccoFreeCA #tobaccofreesolano

Per Yolo-Solano Air Quality, wildfire smoke will continue to impact many parts of Solano County from the August Complex. The smoke is pushed by strong northerly winds through Wednesday. Unhealthy amounts of smoke are forecasted into tomorrow afternoon until winds shift from the South. Limit your exposure to the harmful effects of wildfire smoke by reducing outdoor activity and keep indoor air clean. Ash from impacted areas and structures is being blown around by current windy conditions. Protect yourself from harmful ash by avoiding direct contact with skin, eyes, or mouth. Avoid going outdoors, especially those with conditions such as asthma, older adults, and children. Visit airnow.gov for the up-to-date air quality information in your area. For information about cleaning up ash, visit www.ysaqmd.org/wildfire-smoke-information
