Madera County Department of Public Health (MCDPH) is excited to announce the expansion of COVID-19 vaccine availability to include Madera County residents age 7...5 and older. As of January 12th, 2021 over 3,766 initial doses of the vaccine have been administered in Madera County to healthcare workers, emergency responders, and long-term healthcare residents. Vaccinating Madera’s healthcare workers and also vaccination teams will bolster both the continuity of care to the community and the confidence of those providing that care. said Public Health Officer, Dr. Simon Paul. Those eligible in Phase 1A and now also residents age 75 and over can register for a vaccine at www.maderacounty.com/covid19vaccine. MCDPH must expand capacity to move into Phase 1B. To reach this needed capacity, MCDPH is seeking volunteers. MCDPH Director Sara Bosse says she is looking for community heroes: We need volunteers to fill both clinical and non-clinical roles to help us bring this vaccine to everyone in our community who needs it. MCDPH continues to follow the phased approach to vaccine distribution outlined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the California Department of Public Health. This approach prioritizes high-risk groups and those who interact most with COVID-19 patients.
