Today, the VFW pauses to remember and commemorate the 76th anniversary of D-Day. More than 156,000 brave Allied troops landed along the 50-mile stretch of Norma...ndy’s beaches in an effort to liberate German-occupied France and bring an end to the Nazi regime. May we never forget the bravery and heroism displayed that day. See more

Our freedom isn’t free, and we are ever-grateful to those willing to pay the cost. Today, and every day, we are thankful for every soldier, sailor, airman, Mari...ne and Coast Guardsman. While one day of thanks could never repay the debt we owe our nation’s defenders, this Armed Forces Day the VFW encourages every American to be mindful that without their courage, valor and unwavering dedication to our nation, our world would be a very different place. #ArmedForcesDay
