Legendary surfer and instructor, Richard Schmidt and his 2 boys, Richie and Makai, volunteered their time on Memorial Day to help instruct and coach veterans into waves. Thank you to the Schmidt family , you all do so much for the whole community . Much respect, you are all legends in our eyes. Yesterday the VSA was able to get 2 surfboard into good hands. Nicole is a physical therapist at the VA, board member for the VSA, water safety, beach support and all around stoke master! Thank you for all you do and thank you to @catchsurf for keeping her in the water on her new 8’ log, softtop. Tyler, an army sergeant, paratrooper and member of the alliance, was handed down a Yater longboard to practice his style! (Many thanks to John O for his donation of the Yater) The VSA wants to wish our community a very merry and peaceful holiday time.

Today the VSA linked up with @carmelsurflessons @vtc_monterey for a veteran surf day! We had the honor of being assisted by big wave champion and all around great guy @darrylfleavirostko . He now runs a sober living house, aiding the community in recovery and healthy living. The ocean is healing for all. Check out @fleahab and thank you again to Noah and Darryl. You guys are inspirational !

Good morning to all of the veteran community! It is with an abundance of caution and to abide by the governors new orders, the Veteran Surf Alliance has cancelled our monthly Central Coast surf in Pismo Beach this Saturday. I also want to tell you that there will still be veterans surfing at that same time and same place, so if you need someone to surf with then please come on down to addie st. The monthly Santa Cruz surf is tentative but will most likely have to be canceled as well. We do not like doing this and 2020 has made us cancel enough, we are praying for a better 2021 and to have more opportunities to assist more veterans achieve surf and ocean therapy. Thank you for the continued support through these times and we wish you all a very safe a happy holiday
