My abuelita Lupita became a US citizen when she was 98 years old. She lived to a ripe old age of 103. Our Mayor Alice Patino came to her 100th birthday party and presented her with an award from the city. I’ve never been prouder of anyone in my entire life like the day she took and passed her citizenship test. She was so happy the first time she was able to finally vote in the USA. Born in Mexico, extremely proud of her heritage but even happier to be a US citizen.
