To celebrate the International Day of Peace, One World Montessori participates in Sing Peace Around the World. This historical event first took place on September 21st, 2009, when the Montessori world came together to celebrate peace. This type of learning, this way of addressing the 'whole child', certainly is a path to peace. And so we celebrate both the International Day of Peace as well as the values of Montessori education this September 21st! The song, Light a Candl...e for Peace, starts on September 21st in New Zealand at 11:00am precisely, and is continuously sung for 24 hours by children in countries around the world until it reaches the Hawaiian Islands. VMA students were singing the peace song in Bakersfield, CA, today at 11.00 PT.

Happy International Day of peace The first Peace Day was celebrated in 1982 and was held on the third Tuesday of September each year until 2002, when September 21 became the permanent date for the International Day of Peace. The assembly decided in 2001 that the International Day of Peace should be annually observed on September 21 starting from 2002.

The child should live in an environment of beauty Dr. Maria Montessori! In our VMA classroom we aim to create rich, engaging and also beautiful environment for our students. Details are very important. We always carefully choose details for our future activities. Natural materials such as wood, porcelain, glass, silver and such are always present on our shelves... Many of the parts of our activities we find in very unpredictable places: thrift, consignment, dollar stores and...Antique stores! Here is a little glimpse of our latest visit to San Juan Capistrano Old Antiques Barn Mall....we found quite a few gems for our shelves!

The past two days children got to celebrate Mexican Independence Day! Students for the past few weeks have been making a homemade Piñata! They enjoyed the process from beginning to end! At VMA we love learning and exploring all the cultures around the world! Take a look!

Happy National Grandparents day to all our wonderful VMA grandmas and grandpas! You are simply the best! We are sad not to be able to celebrate you in person in our classroom this year! But we are still thinking about you and your grandkids are preparing surprises for you! Look forward to receiving something cute in your mailbox soon
