Some unfortunate news. Due to complications arising from the Covid-19 pandemic Vallejo Shakespeare in the Park is having to cancel the live shows. Instead we are adapting to the situation and are now planning on presenting a very exciting live-stream of the show from a unique location when the cast can finally meet all together. In these tempestuous times, we are optimistic about bringing live theater directly to people's homes. We have every intention of returning next year to presenting our free live shows at parks around the Bay Area. Please sign up for our email list to receive the latest news. www.VallejoShakespeare.org

The show must go on! Vallejo Shakespeare in the Park Ren-Style! Vallejo Shakespeare is seeking actors to join us this summer as we create a tale of revenge, intrigue, love and forgiveness. Entering our 11th season, we will be mounting The Tempest Ren-Style this means actors will come in off-book and fully memorized and our rehearsals will be limited to digital platforms and one week of live rehearsals prior to opening in July. There are never more than 5 actors on stage a...t a time in this play and they will be directed for social distancing. We will be performing live from the final weekend in July. Recovery from the pandemic is projected for June and we are moving ahead optimistically. We are looking to fill all roles. ***We are accepting audition videos by email to [email protected]. Due April 15. One two-minute Comedy or two pieces- one-minute Comedy and one-minute Tragedy. Video Auditions should be no more than two minutes. We will be in touch by email to set up a reading by digital platform such as skype, zoom or hangouts.** We are interested in finding actors, musicians/actors, clowns (Non-Equity) looking to hone their Shakespeare skills as well as shape up their craft working in the great outdoors, against the backdrop of society. We build in Vallejo and travel our show to Piedmont, Oakland, Crockett, and Martinez. $250 stipend plus pass-the-hat at park performances. Our show dates are: July 25 & 26 Hanns Park Amphitheater, Vallejo August 1, Rithet Park, Crockett August 2, Susana Park, Martinez August 8, Peralta Hacienda Historical Park, Oakland August 9, Dracena Quarry Park, Piedmont August 14 &15 Fundraiser Show, Location TBD, Vallejo Vallejo Shakespeare in the Park aims to provide professional performance opportunities to Bay Area actors of color, various gender identity, and women through non-traditional casting. We want our productions to reflect the community in which they are performed and help our audience connect to classical theater with exciting contemporary staging. We believe the arts are an important part of the fabric of a community and we want to do our part to ensure a thriving arts environment and help raise the value of the arts as a public benefit. We present a bare-bones production, concentrating on the actor’s performances and honest storytelling, with minimal set and modern dress. We also participate in Vallejo's Independence Day parade, a 167 year tradition, which will be on a Saturday this year. Participation is voluntary. The parade may be digital this year.
Yes, the show must go on! We have plans...Thank you Carol!
(I stole this from Bay Area Theater Bums) KQED compiled a list of private Bay Area funding entities that have been created to support local artists who have been impacted by the economic repercussions of COVID-19. Please utilize this resource if applicable and share this info within your communities! Let's keep supporting each other and putting our actions and cash money where it counts! It will take a while for federal and state government financial assistance to appear in f...olks' bank accounts. https://www.kqed.org//emergency-funds-for-freelancers-crea
Last night at City Council the Vallejo Waterfront Weekend gave Vallejo Shakespeare $2000!! We are eternally grateful for their support! This puts a huge dent in our fundraising! But we still have a little ways to go to reach our funding goals. Please contribute to help us get over the finish line! https://www.facebook.com/donate/2367438323548384/
Thanks for your support so far! We've got a ways to go to meet our goal. Please give if you can and help support our 2020 show. Hope to see you there!
