Today we received news that one of our farmers' market family members, Jo Doan, has passed away. Jo and Doan Farms have been a mainstay in the the Vallejo farmers' market since its inception and welcomed everyone with his unforgettable smile We will miss him dearly. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family in Ohio and his wife Dung oàn in Vietnam

Hello, Vallejo! Your farmers' market will be OPEN tomorrow for reduced hours - we will be closing early at noon due to air quality concerns. The last few weeks have presented unthinkable challenges for many of our farmers, as some have experienced crop loss, fire damages, and evacuation orders, all in the midst of a pandemic. Those who are able work tirelessly to bring you the fresh fruits and veggies you love every week. Our vendors appreciate your continued support as we all continue to navigate these crazy times If you can, stop by tomorrow morning to quickly and safely shop for the freshest local harvests - make sure to wear your mask and wash your produce!

Have you heard about Market Match? Market Match is a program that allows CalFresh recipients to extend their budgets in the farmers' markets for the use of fruits and vegetables by matching up to $10 of their EBT allowance, essentially doubling their benefits! This means more fresh produce on families' tables, and more money being spent locally to help sustain small farms. In 2019, Solano County received over $14,381 in Market Match at the PCFMA farmers' markets, extending to more than 535 households. Halfway through 2020, we have already seen more than 384 families spending over $9,750 in Market Match dollars at their local markets. Good morning from the farmers market! Come get the best summer CORN TODAY!! Remember to wear a mask and Keep your distance when possible and THANK YOU for doing your part to keep your neighbors and farmers safe and healthy! Try this easy corn salsa if you grilled to many ears! Grilled Corn Salsa... Makes 3 Cups Ingredients: 3 ears of corn, grilled until the husk is evenly charred, de-husked and kernels removed 1 basket of cherry tomatoes, sliced in half 1 avocado, peeled, de-seeded and diced 3 stems of scallions, thinly sliced 1-2 tablespoons minced cilantro Lime juice to taste Olive oil to taste 1 Serrano chile, minced Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste Ground cumin to taste Method: Combine ingredients in a large bowl and serve over tortilla chips.
