TRANSCEND featuring Visions of Angkor by featured Artist David Draime opens this Sat, Feb 8 with an artists' reception from 6-8 PM. David Draime, an artist working from his studio in Dixon, California is known mostly for his portraits. His current work, though, is inspired by the ancient carvings of Angkor Wat in Cambodia, and will be on display at the Vacaville Art Gallery in our upcoming show Transcend. Draime first visited Cambodia in 2006 and has returned many times to... sketch and paint. He finds the look of the old, weathered carvings endlessly fascinating. I remember the first time I visited these temple sites, "I felt that everywhere I looked, I saw a ‘painting’ waiting to be made. His love of the Cambodian people, with their rich culture, both past and present, is clearly evident in each and every piece. The Transcend show featuring Draime's work, 'Visions of Angkor' , opens on February 8, with an Artists' Reception from 6-8 PM and will be on display until March 7. A display of other gallery artists will also be on view.
