Research led by our own Carl Berdahl, a medical intern in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the Keck School of Medicine, has found that emergency physicians in Ontario, Canada, use CT scans less than doctors in the United States. "Our study wasn't able to look at whether this was a good thing or a bad thing for patients in terms of patient outcome, but I think it does beg the question: Since the technology is available in both countries, why is it being used twice as often in the U.S.?" Berdahl said. Check out the article by Reuters Health.
