Wondering why the foliage on your trees is looking a little burnt this week? 1) We had a couple of days of 113 degrees. That is crazy hot weather for Sonoma County!! 2) Almost a months worth of Smoke and ash are smothering the foliage reducing the capacity for photosynthesis. This is especially true with deciduous trees like maples and other trees that lose their foliage in the winter. (The leaf shown in the photo is from an Asian Pear.)... What to do? Unfortunately not a lot can be done except watering your plants thoroughly going into extreme heat. Make sure that newly planted trees are consistently irrigated this time of year. This isn't our first fire season and everything usually makes it out just fine. Just don't expect a bunch of fall color from trees that are showing burnt foliage and for the trees to drop their foliage a little early this year. We will be opening our site on Wednesday the 6th to the public. Our hours of operation will be: 8:00am - 4:00pm M, W, Th, Fr & Sat Closed Tuesdays Sunday 10:00am - 4:00pm... Hours and days are subject to change. Due to safety concerns and staffing issues, we will not be able to provide detailed or lengthy consultations or tours. Only 2 Customers per vehicle. Masks must be worn. NO PETS allowed. You can email your order request and we will call you back for payment. Urban Tree Farm Nursery will be closed to the public until the Shelter in Place mandate has been lifted. If you had an order that was paid for you will be able to pick it up after the mandate is lifted. You may still email us during this time and we will try to get back to you as soon as we are able with limited staff.
