We get out of the hubbub of Old Town by taking a short hike up Presidio Hill to see the location of the first European settlement on the west coast of the US. Our new California friends - including one celebrating their birthday - enjoyed the cool fall weather and great views.
An unassuming part of Old Town contains Presidio Hills Golf Course - given to the city by George Marston in 1932 and the place famous names (Mickelson, Woods, Casper, Littler) played as youngsters - is one of the places we visit on our Old Town Tour. On the way to Presidio Park we talk about the history of the course, and the story of Josefa and Henry - San Diego's own 19th century Romeo and Juliet.
We cover a lot of ground on our Old Town Tour and a special thanks to these two who did it on an especially hot day. The great thing about our time exploring San Diego's earliest European history is there are delicious treats waiting for us at the end!
We know we shouldn't but we can't stop taking our Balboa Park group photos in the same spot. The Lily Pond is so scenic, and the Botanical Building behind it so beautiful. Who can resist?
Celebrating birthdays with our new friends is always a treat. Thanks for letting us be part of your special weekend last month! Cheers!
We love it when guests take us up on our suggestions and these ladies reported back they had a great meal at a restaurant we recommended. Our hearts burst with joy when our guests take the time to write to us and let us know how much they enjoyed our time together. Thank you "neighbors" for a great morning in Balboa Park!
Although we don't visit Old Town State Park on our tours, who can resist a quick stop to take a photo at their sign. So glad these two made us part of their trip to San Diego! Cheers!
Masked up and ready to explore Old Town San Diego! Here our socially distanced guests are standing in front of a cross on Presidio Hill, built from original tiles from the first permanent European settlement of what became the west coast of the US. Thanks for letting us join in on your birthday celebrations!
One of the great things about our amazing taco and tequila stop on our Old Town Tour is they have a relaxing patio outside in the fresh air. Makes a great place to celebrate a 21st Anniversary. Cheers!
We've enjoyed spending September back out on tour with our terrific guests - masked up and socially distanced of course. Although we miss sitting down at the table and joining our new friends for tequila and tacos, we sure love seeing them enjoy themselves. These new friends were especially appreciated as they joined us for our Old Town Tour on the hottest day of the year. Cheers!
We've missed all our friends - both our guests and the "friends" we see on tour. We had a soft open in August just to test the tour waters and figure out the new world we're all navigating. All of our private tours are available, or you can join our Old Town and Balboa Park tours. Any changes to that schedule will be updated here. In the meantime - stay safe and be well!
