A view images that show all the beauty and wonder that is the horse. Not a specific breed, not of a specific discipline, but of a athlete that is bred to have a job. Be it in your back yard, at a show, going down the trail, flying over a jump, moving cows. It is the time spent, the relationship, the communication, the bond that is always relevant. I am grateful for the gift.

Haflinger Rudi & Susi Lobenhofer (For English please scroll down) Ein kurzer Film von der 6. Fachtagung "Pferdeausbildung mit Gefühl und Respekt" mit Anja Ber...an und Jana Mandana am 22.11.2015 im Circus Krone. Unsere Fachtagung stand unter dem Motto: "Klassische Dressur als Schlüssel zum gesunden Pferd". Mehr über "Rudi": Der Haflingerwallach Rudi war sehr schwierig und wurde leider schon 2,5 jährig angeritten! Von seiner jetzigen Besitzerin wurde er als gefährlich eingestuft er ging durch! Gezwungenermaßen kam sie vor ca. 7 Jahren zur klassischen Reiterei und so wurden beide von Christine Schmiedel gefördert. Im Laufe der Jahre wurde der Haflinger Schritt für Schritt dank sinnvoller Gymnastizierung und Vorbereitung bis zu Piaffe, Passage und fliegenden Wechseln ausgebildet. Druck und Strafe hätten ihn hier niemals weitergebracht Rudi lässt sich nur mit Geduld, Fairness und viel Lob überzeugen. / A short film from our conference with the topic The Classical Dressage as a key to a healthy horse with Anja Beran and Jana Mandana in November 2015. For our English speaking friends: The film has subtitles in English language. Background about "Rudi": The Haflinger gelding Rudi was very difficult and unfortunately he was broke in already when he was only 2.5 years old! From its present owner, he was considered being dangerous and uncontrollable! His owner, Susi Lobenhofer, was more or less forced to start train Rudi in the Classical dressage about 7 years ago. Both are trained by Christine Schmiedel. Through the years, thanks to meaningful gymnastic exercises the Haflinger was step by step prepared for piaffe, passage and flying changes. Pressure and punishment would never have been the solution how to train the Haflinger. Rudi can only be persuaded with patience, fairness and a lot of praise. Film: IK Film Photo: Maresa Mader

I leaned over Jean Luc’s shoulder reading his work . The subject is the shoulder in. He put his hand on my hand saying, I have the feeling that you are going t...o use this part before I finish this study. I say yep, placed my free hand on the mouse and clicked copy. Here it is: Maya Angelou wrote, I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel. This applies to horses. You win their heart when you make them comfortable with their body and sound. You have a very special place in their mind when you encourage them to think and respect their errors. They never forgot when you treat them as partners. You can win their stomach with carrots, sugar, or any other treat but you don’t win their respect. It would be in fact more appropriated to use the word esteem. You can get a form of respect through domination or social order but it is more about submissive obedience. It is, for the horse, more a matter of survival than respect. They look in your pocket for treats but they don’t like you. They obey but don’t have any esteem for you. The ones who really look at you as a partner read your mind; they don’t need spectacular demonstration of love. True friendship comes when silence between two peoples is comfortable. (Dave Tyson Gentry) There is a fundamental difference between a skilled rider and a master. A skilled rider makes the horse execute movements. A master gives to the horse the athletic ability to perform the move soundly and at its utmost potential. La Gueriniere was a true Master. He did not create the shoulder in to get a score in the show ring. Dressage tests were not part of the equestrian world at this time. François Robichon de la Gueriniere created the shoulder in to enhance the horses’ athleticism. There is no mastership without extensive understanding of the equine locomotor mechanism. Henri Pointcare wrote, It is through science that we prove, but through intuition that we discover. This is definitively true for the equestrian art. Most discoveries have been made first by intuition and proven later by science. There are also intuitions that have been proven to be wrong by science. True masters do not repeat false intuitions under the name of tradition. True masters question and analyze our predecessors finding in the light of actual knowledge. Mastership is a long process of learning and experience. It cannot be replaced by extensive advertising. It is done but it is usurpation. Dennis Overbye wrote, The Joy of Physics isn’t in the results, but in the search itself. Riding is physics; it is about interactions of forces and consequent actions. The joy of riding and training and teaching is not in the execution of the movement; it is in the fascinating process of leading the horse’s brain toward the body coordination adapted to the athletic demand of the performance. With the science of motion, we are creating a generation of masters. This is Reynolds. He was featured in the June issue of Red Bucket Equine Rescue. I posted the story below. I took this photo the other day while watering horses in the heat, Reynolds and I had a great conversation.... He is from Nevada, this heat is nothing to him as a youngster. His captivity I can only speculate on, The prisoners that started him did a wonderful job for this horse in all he has been through with help of Craig Patterson we now see ALL that is in his eye.... Not a broken down horse but a wise,yet cautious, horse that is so sensitive he doesn't need to be kicked to go forward or no need to pull back in his mouth to stop. With opening of the fingers to go or the closing of the fingers around the reins to stop. The horse says why YELL, I can hear your whisper. Soon I will hear your thought.
