As we are not yet able to open the doors to our practice, we would love to share some great tips for at home care as well as keeping calm and staying healthy while sheltering in place. Feeling some anxiety during times of uncertainty can be expected, and this can lead to involuntary clenching which can cause unwanted changes in your mouth, teeth and jaw. To help relieve anxiousness make sure to take some time for some deep breathing, an at-home workout, a walk outside or some... meditation. If you have a night guard, retainer or even bleaching trays pull them out and use them during the day as this can give your jaw some much needed relief. During the day if you notice you are clenching or holding your jaw muscles tight, consider sticking the tip of your tongue between your front teeth to create an opening between your back teeth. You can also try jutting your lower jaw forward and holding that position for short periods of time. Avoid excessive gum chewing or repetitive chewing on very sticky items like caramels and taffy that may tire your jaw muscles At night, use a warm washcloth along your jaw near your earlobe to relax your jaw muscles In addition, we wanted to send some ideas of how to maintain good oral health when you can't get in to see the hygienist. So much research shows that it is important to keep up our oral health to maintain overall general health. While using supplements and other immune boosting essentials is certainly helpful, you should remember that a clean mouth is one of the easiest things we can do to improve our immune system! Make sure that you are brushing your teeth for two full minutes paying very close attention to those hard to reach areas. Leave your waterpik or dental floss out on the counter to remind you to clean in between those teeth once a day. Drink lots of water! Water continues to be the best beverage for your overall health, including oral health. Also, as a rule of thumb, drinking water after every meal can help wash out some of the negative effects of sticky and acidic foods and beverages in between brushes. If you are not having issues with TMJ or clenching, chewing sugar free gum with xylitol is a great way to neutralize acidity that can lead to cavities and gum issues. In addition to at home care, we have decided to set up two Zoom sessions for our patients. These sessions are for any clinical questions or concerns you may have for our doctors. The first session will be held this Thursday, April 30th from 2:00pm until 3:30pm and the second session will be held Monday, May 4th from 10:30am until 12:00pm. We are so excited to announce that we have opened our new office! It was a difficult decision and it will be very hard to say goodbye to our previous office where we have helped and treated so many of you for the past ten years. Although we loved our former office dearly, we needed more room to grow for the years to come. We've spent countless hours over the past two years planning and designing our new space and we are so proud of what we have built. This is so much more tha...n a dental office, this is our forever home. Our goal was to build a warm and welcoming space for our patients and our staff with a classic, timeless design using only top of the line technology. There are so many people we have to thank for creating the perfect office to match our vision of providing the ultimate standard of quality care. To see our vision come to life is a dream come true. We are so grateful for all their hard work, dedication and attention to details that have made this project truly worth waiting for. Our suite is now located on the 24th floor of the 450 Sutter Building, Suite 2414. Today is the 10th anniversary of the opening of Union Square Dental Practice. We are grateful for your trust in us as your dentist, the opportunity of working with some of the world known specialist and being able to build the dream office we have always envisioned. As most of you know, the construction of the new office (450 Sutter Street, 24th floor) is almost finished and we are hoping we can move in by the middle of next month. You can see Dr. Nazanin, Jonathan (our interior designer) and James McCann (our construction manager) in a brainstorming session over the final details.

Nazanin and I had a great experience attending American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry Seminar. We met some of the pioneers at cosmetic dentistry and learn more about multidisciplinary procedures.
