Next up in our startup research report series is an investment thesis by Komal Prakash! *Verge Genomics* is a rapidly growing startup focused on applying AI technologies and genomics to the process of drug discovery. According to co-founder Alice Zhang, the focus of Verge Genomics is to optimize the process of drug discovery through machine learning methods, hopefully transforming the process into a more calculated and less serendipitous process. Meet Kayvon! Kayvon joined BV last quarter as part of the fall 2019 associate class and is very involved both on and off campus! In addition to BV, Kayvon works in public relations for the Campus Events Commission, is a member of Theta Xi, a collegiate rep for 5 hour energy and an intern at Pitch Genius! Though he stays super busy, he loves listening to music in his free time and especially running his instagram account (@same_picture_of_simon_cowell)! We’re so amazed by all he’s accomplished and cannot wait to watch him continue to kill it!

Our winter associate class had their first meeting last night to kick off their associate quarter! We’re so excited to welcome our newest members and can’t wait to watch them learn and grow throughout this quarter!!

Meet Gautham! Gautham serves as our treasurer and is a second year business economics major with a minor in accounting. Aside from BV, he’s a part of Bruin Asset Management as well as the Indian Student Union. During the summer he’s just as busy, and spent last summer interning at First Republic Bank in San Francisco on one of their wealth management teams! In his free time, Gautham loves getting outside and hiking, kayaking and playing tennis and basketball! We know there’s big things ahead for him and cannot wait to watch him continue to succeed in his future endeavors!

BV’s Pitch Night was a huge success with startup ideas from our new associates ranging in topics from an all-encompassing gift card platform to a college-specific student marketplace to an aquaponics company! Our new associates applied what they had learned from all their workshops this quarter (design, finance, value propositions, etc.). And a huge thanks to all the older members that came out to see their hard work! : @gabyllorenzi
