We wanted to provide updates about the Center for Student Leadership and our programs in response to Chancellor Howard Gillman’s announcement on March 10th, 2020 to the campus community about transitioning UC Irvine to be a remote campus due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The Center for Student Leadership is exploring what student engagement means for our programs in this new format. We will be transitioning to online experiences wherever possible and will work hard to create meaningful modes of engagement for students while being as communicative and transparent as possible. The CSL will share updates as we continue to initiate plans. Our 2020 summer orientation programs for new undergraduate students (SPOP, ISPOP, and TSPOP) will be transitioning to an online model. More information about orientation for incoming students, parents, and families can be found on our website at https://orientation.uci.edu. The Administrative Intern Program for 2019-2020 will continue for Spring Quarter and follow suit with an online model. Department mentors and interns/mentees will be communicated with directly as soon as a plan is set. Selection for the 2020-2021 Cohort is continuing, with communication to applicants coming soon. His selfless demeanor, knowledge, and dedication to the environment really shines through his projects.
