2021 Irrigation and Nutrient Management Meeting UC Cooperative Extension Monterey County is offering their 2021 Irrigation and Nutrient Management Meeting virtually this year. Quality Loss Adjustment (QLA) Program USDA announces Quality Loss Assistance for eligible producers affected by 2018 and 2019 natural disasters. Signups began on Jan. 6, 2021. Funded by the Further Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2020, this new program provides assistance to producers who suffered eligible crop quality losses due to natural disasters occurring in 2018 and 2019. The deadline to apply for QLA is Friday, March 5, 2021. For more information, visit https://www.farmers.gov/quality-loss, or contact your local USDA Service Center. Producers can also obtain one-on-one support with applications by calling 877-508-8364.
The California Small Business COVID-19 Relief Grant Program is now open and is taking applications through January 13th. All agricultural businesses are eligible to apply for these grants. The amount of grant funding ranges from $5,000 to $25,000. Businesses are eligible based on their annual revenue as documented in their most recent tax return. The application and all information about the grant can be found here: https://careliefgrant.com/ Information on the website is available in multiple languages, and farmers can apply through partner organizations that also provide language support.
We are hiring! The Small Farms Program is looking for a Program Assistant (CES 2). The position is located in Santa Clara County and closes on January 8th, 2021. The Program Assistant will design, conduct, manage, and evaluate bilingual agricultural educational outreach and program evaluation, and assistance with record-keeping to non-English speaking small-scale farmers in partnership with educational institutions, county-based agencies, organizations and services.
