Inside Views of Design (ARCH 1005-008) Instructor: Diane Dorrans Saeks This exclusive afternoon seminar introduces you to three leading California designers and designers. As you visit them in their San Francisco studios, you will come to appreciate their talent in producing creative, functional and inspiring environments. Led by acclaimed design and architecture book author, Diane Dorrans Saeks, the tour commences at the studio of Gary Hutton Design. The firm was founded i...n 1980; The Gary Hutton Furniture Collection followed in 1984. Gary Hutton’s modernist aesthetic is based on intellectual and intuitive disciplines. A highlight will be viewing several unpublished, new residences. Hutton recently published ‘Art House’ (Assouline), a dramatic monograph of his interior designs for noted art collector, Chara Schreyer. The group then drives to the sun-filled studio of Nicole Hollis Design, an internationally recognized commercial and residential interior design firm, where we meet designer and creative director Nicole Hollis and CEO Lewis Heathcote. The firm is made up of 30 designers and artisans who focus on both traditional and contemporary interiors and create exquisite decorative elements, furniture and accessories. You will view wineries, hotels, restaurants, and beautifully detailed residences, and understand why they have won accolades and awards. We complete the afternoon at the studio of The Wiseman Group located in a historic Victorian captain’s house on Potrero Hill. The firm, headed by Paul Wiseman, was founded in 1980 and is known for attention to detail and highly customized, elegant interiors. We meet their senior design team whose extraordinary aesthetic and precision result in work that is sensual, intellectual, and emotionally engaging. Paul Wiseman and his team have invited us to stay for refreshments at 5 pm and continue our discussion on current design topics with the designers. 1 meeting Saturday, 12:00 pm-5:00 pm February 11, 2017 $100.00 Participants park downtown near the studio of Gary Hutton, 531 Jessie Street, San Francisco.
