Insurance....Huh!!! What is it good for? Absolutely everything!!! Because of the nature of our practice, quite often we get asked what kind of coverage folks should have for auto insurance. There are so may options out there, and the cost of insurance varies considerably depending on coverage. We always tell our clients not to cut corners when it comes to auto insurance. It is estimated that up to 20% of all drivers on the road have no insurance, and approximately 2...5% of all drivers have only the minimum coverage required by law. Most people think of auto insurance as protecting them in case they get sued. That's perfecting fine, but what if you get hurt and need to sue someone else? Suing an uninsured or barely insured driver will not go far enough to cover your losses. This is why we always recommend having higher limits for coverage called Uninsured/Underinsured motorist. This type of coverage helps protect you better against significant injuries and time off work. We usually recommend you have at least 100,000 of UM/UIM coverage.
