Not only does this raw goat milk soap radiate coastal vibes, but it is rich in natural emollients and lactic acid. Goat milk is incredibly hydrating and won’t dry out your skin like most commercial skin products. Other ingredients include coconut oil, olive oil, sweet almond oil, castor oil, Shea butter, and walnut shell powder for natural exfoliation. Available for pre-order in the online farm store. #goatmilksoap #naturalskincare

This wooded area on the rotational grazing schedule is a hen favorite. The trees provide an endless amount of foliage, shade, and roosts. Some have decided that they prefer to sleep here despite our attempts at putting them away safely in the coop each night. #naturedoesitbetter

Things just got a whole lot more fun around here with the arrival of our Cayuga ducklings. They will lay BLACK eggs to complete our rainbow! This is the first time we have raised ducks and they are just so hilarious and entertaining.

We’ve tried so many times and have been unsuccessful at letting our broody hens hatch their own eggs. They seem to be interested for a few days and then take an extended vacation. We just about gave up until @teacher_farmer told us to try with a #bantam hen! So of course, I finally have an excuse to fulfill my lifelong dream of raising #silkie chickens for an actual purpose other than being ridiculously cute. #floofy

Update! We’re making the switch to corn-free and soy-free supplemental layer feed for those with sensitivities. Our feed is certified organic from Modesto Milling. We believe that transparency is super important to hold farmers and those in charge of our food systems accountable for the future of our health and the environment. See detailed information on how we raise our hens and direct links to our suppliers at twistedfields.com/our-flock

Chickens are out venturing far from their mobile coops to finish off organic material from last seasons crop. Look closely to see our automated farming rover making its morning rounds. Sometimes it’s frustrating that we aren’t getting enough rain this Winter, or our egg count is cut in half now that our chickens are molting. But after taking in a moment like this, it feels like everything will be okay.

Chickens are out working hard. We moved the mobile coops last week to the sunflower field and they got angry and went on an egg strike. They will soon be happy again foraging in their new area with new insects and seeds to munch on and we will start to see weird eggs again as our new pullets start to lay.
